Suffer The Children bring a blend of left-field R&B, electronica and Trip Hop on ‘Killing Hands’ that brings a tiny glimpse of light to an otherwise dark surrounding. You can watch the video below.
Based in both London and Vancouver, the trio is made up of the collaborative artistry of three highly talented individuals. Chin Injeti is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and producer. By day, he makes records for some of the biggest names in music – earning him a few Grammy Awards (Drake, Eminem, Aloe Blacc) and a Juno (K’naan). On tour with his first band Bass is Base, Chin shared stages with the likes of The Fugees, The Roots, TLC and James Brown.
Rian Peters is a consummate performer whose main focus is singing, with a generous side helping of dance. He has toured, performed and provided vocals for the likes of Estelle, Leona Lewis, CeeLo Green, and five-time Grammy winner Michael McDonald. Shallom Johnson has spent the majority of her life as a dancer, painter and poet, developing a career that has run the gamut from contemporary dance to fashion writing; from street art to theatre. As a visual artist and curator, she has worked with many of today’s top muralists (Faith47, David Shillinglaw, Scott Sueme, Mak1one, Kofie, Remi/Rough) and participated in major street art festivals around the globe (Living Walls ATL, Articulate:Baltimore, Vitry Jam, Project Amsterdam Street Art, MANIFESTO Festival).
Speaking of the video, Suffer The Children say: “The building where our studio is located in one of the oldest and most haunted places in Vancouver – and apparently the basement hallway where we shot this video is where most of the spirits tend to hang out. Killing Hands plays with a lot of dark imagery and we wanted to create something visual to reflect that, building a narrative while leaving space for the viewer to draw their own conclusions. We imagined that the song itself was drawn from the memories that our building holds. Traces left behind by someone long gone, stories that live in the walls.”
