With -22.7°C Molécule has captured the coldness that a trip across Greenland will bring, the music itself is accompanied by a book of photographs and letters, a documentary film and a virtual reality experience that documents the trip.

Although the album itself captures the cold harshness that Molécule found himself in, there is also a warmth about sounds on this album from the pulsing bass lines and arpeggiated synths that sit nicely with the harshness of the pads and beats, all this doesn’t feel deliberately done however with the album having a very organic feel, taking you on the journey into the great white landscape of unknown along with some of the sounds from the trip itself that features harsh heavy breathing sounds of dogs and dog calls.

The press release states that this is a techno album but it feels and sounds much more than that, in fact I would find it hard to categorise -22.7°C into a genre as such, putting it more just in the electronic music space whilst also giving a nod to it concept album roots.

-22.7°C has everything, it has highs, it has lows, it has harsh and delicate moments, it has wide open spaces and audio atmospheric surroundings that bring the cold openness of Greenland to life. If you’re looking for something different or a regular consumer of electronic musics multiple genres, I would recommend this album for you, but be warned, this album has all the elements to make you feel sub zero temperatures even in the highs of summer.
