Just last month on this very blog I featured ‘Farther Away‘ by Sam Valdez, I even featured the track on the May edition of the podcast. At the end of my post for ‘Farther Away’ I stated that “I for one can’t wait to hear it” in regards to the email I had received about the track stating that more music was coming soon and that I couldn’t wait to hear it. Well I wasn’t waiting long as yesterday an email containing Ms Valdez’s next offering ‘Funeral’.

‘Funeral’ has a real Mazzy Star feel about it, the words float along on a bed of minimalism until the chorus brings a more atmospheric feel with floaty guitars that capture a vision of a desert dwelling at both day and night, simply put ‘Funeral’ is another exceptional piece of work and I’m definitely excited not just to hear the next release but hear the EP/album that these songs are being lifted from.

Sam Valdez is definitely one to watch, she has all the skills needed to do and be something totally remarkable.
