Boston-based alt pop/rock trio shallow pools stay high above water with their new single ‘Sinking’, out today. The follow up to their debut single ‘It’s A You Thing’, which was released earlier this summer, ‘Sinking’ focus on the daily struggles that come with general anxiety. Their sound continues to expand on influences of both pop rock and alternative.
‘Sinking’ musically and somewhat lyric delivery wise is very much in the vein of earlier Paramore, with it’s pulsing guitar riff, perfectly timed but somewhat jagged drum pattern ‘Sinking’ has all the makings of a floating hit in the alt rock/pop charts and demonstrates the bands inspirations to make a mark on a genre that could need some much needed new faces and a slight change of direction.
With a 5-track EP set for later this fall, I’m certainly interested in hearing what the girls have in store.
Speaking about the new single the band states: “Sinking is about the struggles of dealing with anxiety and the challenges it brings on a daily basis. The song explores the fear of opening up to others and asking for help.”
