Jaguar Dreams have been on the rise since dropping their cover of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Dreams‘ back in October. Since then the guys have gone on to drop Just Life, Behind Those Clothes & A Real Woman to much praise and fanfare.

Now the band have dropped their self titled debut EP, and what a breath of fresh air it is for the electronic genre, a genre that has become somewhat over blown and produced in recent years with everyone from your mothers uncle to the local shop keeper now calling themselves a “EDM producer/DJ”, but this is none of that. What we have here is just the right amount of everything, it’s not bass heavy, at least not in the current overblown heavy wobble way, instead it goes for more traditional bass lines that are both funky and dirty.

The sound of the EP is also something different completely, with every track having it’s own vibe, feel and style whilst have a familiarity throughout that holds it all together perfectly that never loses its way, and with a mixture of live instrumentation, electronics and a modern disco vibe you can see why Jaguar Dreams have garnered the praise and fanfare from music blogs and tastemakers that I mentioned above, including from myself.

This is an EP that any fan of music needs even if your not necessarily an electronic music fan, maybe you were a big disco head back in the day or your favourite musical era was that of the 80’s, then there is something here for you, basically it has everything you could ask for all wrapped up with a nice pop ribbon on top just for good measure.

RATING: 4/5
