Northern Californian indie rock duo Junaco bring dark tones and mountainous imagery on ‘Willow’, the first offering from their upcoming EP which is set for release via Boulevard Recording.
‘Willow’ is atmospheric, dark, brooding but at the same time calm, comforting with a thin emotional layer of euphoria. The vocals are soulful with a slight dipping of reverb that fills the empty gaps whilst also opening up space to breathe. The change of pace towards the end brings a completely different take on the song but without it losing any of the elements of the songs core.
Speaking of Willow Shahana Jaffer of the band says – “Emotions are often intensified by our surroundings. We rarely separate the two – when we are inspired by a feeling it is all encompassed by the environment we are in. The message of this music is to except those feelings rather than trying to mask them”.
