I am please to share with you all the second instalment of From The Studio. The premise of this feature is simple – an Artist/Producer curates a playlist which includes up to 15 tracks by Artists/Bands that have influenced them in their life/career or that they simply just love.
In this instalment of From The Studio singer/songwriter and total badass Skye Wallace picks the songs that influenced her career and new record which is available now.
You can find the playlist below along with a quote from Skye herself. I hope you enjoy and discover something new.
“I wrote these songs in pretty remote locations, in Western Newfoundland on Canada’s East Coast, and Dawson City, Yukon, which is deep in the North, where there are only a few hours of sun per day in the winter and temperatures plummet to -45C. I wanted to make the kind of music that sparked something in me, so I immersed myself in music that made me feel that way. It stretches from music that has inspired me from the get-go (The Weakerthans, Okkervil River), to music that I found more recently (Mitski), to music whose emotive rawness we wanted to channel while working in the studio (Scout Niblett), to music that inspired production choices (Neutral Milk Hotel). I love this new record we’ve just put out and I love the songs on this playlist. Listen up and enjoy, friends!”
