Dizzy are one of those bands that I fell in love with instantly, their sound was vast and yet intimate in ways that were are hard to describe.

The music alone breaks you, heals & soothes and then puts you back together again, and then there’s Katie Munshaw’s words and vocal that strip away the world around you and paint you with images and emotions in ways that you didn’t think possible.

Dizzy are a special band and one that deserve to be high level world players and that is evident here on what is often referred to as the difficult second album, except Dizzy have not only bypassed the difficult second album but they have topped their stunning debut, 2018’s Baby Teeth.

The Sun & Her Scorch is an emotional rollercoaster, with Munshaw taking you to every chamber of the heart, sometimes with joy, sometimes with sorrow with her words but with a voice so soothing and beautiful that it’s wraps it’s arms around you and tells you everything will be okay.

The Sun & Her Scorch is everything and more than I was expecting and places Dizzy right on the heels of Metric as my favourite Canadian band, but I have a feeling that with a few more listens they will take that top spot.

The Sun & Her Scorch is an album you can play all summer long but I believe it’s when the weather turns cold is when the album will truly come into it’s own.
